Salary: MPS/UPS (depending on experience)
Hours: 32.5 hours per week

Tradewind Recruitment is working in partnership with a secondary school in Northampton seeking a dedicated PE Teacher to join their team for an ASAP start in May. The school is committed to promoting high standards, student wellbeing, and a strong culture of participation and achievement through sport.

Job Purpose

You will be responsible for delivering high-quality Physical Education lessons across KS3 and KS4 (with KS5 opportunities in some settings), ensuring all students are engaged, challenged, and making strong progress. You will also contribute to the wider school sporting life through extra-curricular activities, clubs, and fixtures.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver engaging and well-structured PE lessons across KS3 and KS4
  • Promote confidence, teamwork, resilience, and healthy lifestyles through sport
  • Plan and adapt lessons to meet the needs of all learners, including SEND students
  • Assess, track, and monitor student progress effectively
  • Contribute to extra-curricular sport, clubs, and inter-school fixtures
  • Maintain high expectations for behaviour, participation, and achievement
  • Support whole-school initiatives linked to wellbeing, attendance, and enrichment
  • Work collaboratively with PE staff and wider school colleagues
  • Uphold safeguarding policies and contribute to a safe learning environment
  • Engage in ongoing CPD and professional development opportunities

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent teaching qualification
  • Experience teaching PE at KS3 and KS4 (KS5 desirable but not essential)
  • Strong subject knowledge across a range of sports and physical activities
  • Excellent behaviour management and classroom leadership skills
  • A passion for promoting health, fitness, and student participation in sport
  • The ability to build positive relationships with students and staff
  • Strong organisation, communication, and teamwork skills
  • A commitment to inclusive education and raising achievement for all learners
  • ECTs are welcome and will receive strong support and mentoring
