Learning Support Assistant / Teaching Assistant

Tradewind Recruitment are currently working with a Primary School in Oldham who are seeking a full-time Learning Support Assistant / Teaching Assistant to work within their SEN unit.

This is a rewarding opportunity for someone who is passionate about supporting young children, particularly those with social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs. If you have strong behaviour management skills and a nurturing approach, this role could be a great fit.


About the Role

As a Learning Support Assistant / Teaching Assistant, you will:

  • Support students with social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs
  • Manage and respond to challenging behaviour effectively
  • Assist with learning across individual, small group, and whole class settings
  • Monitor and support pupils with SEMH and additional special educational needs
  • Encourage positive behaviour using consistent reinforcement strategies
  • Provide academic, social, and emotional support to pupils

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you should:

  • Have previous experience as a Teaching Assistant or Learning Support Assistant
  • Take a holistic approach to supporting children's development
  • Be calm, empathetic, and able to set clear boundaries
  • Be reliable, trustworthy, and committed
  • Have a genuine passion for supporting vulnerable young people
