Location: Dalton-in-Furness, Cumbria
Contract Type: Full-Time, Temporary-to-Permanent
Salary: MPS/UPS (£32,916 - £51,047 per annum, pro-rata)
Start Date: 1st June 2026
The Opportunity
We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Teacher of Science to join a thriving and ambitious secondary school community in Dalton-in-Furness. This role begins on 1st June 2026 as a fixed-term contract until the end of the academic year (July 2026). For the right candidate, there is a clear view to extend this into a permanent position for the September 2026 - July 2027 academic year.
This is an excellent opportunity for a teacher who is passionate about inspiring the next generation of scientists and is looking for a school with high aspirations for every student.
Key Responsibilities
Deliver high-quality Science lessons across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4.
Full responsibility for planning and marking is essential. You will be expected to create engaging lesson plans that meet the needs of all learners and provide timely, constructive feedback in line with school policy.
Monitor student progress and use data to inform teaching strategies, ensuring every student performs to the best of their ability.
Maintain high expectations for student behaviour and foster a positive, inclusive classroom environment.
Contribute to the wider life of the Science department and support the school's ethos of excellence.
Requirements
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
A degree in a Science-related subject (Biology, Chemistry, or Physics).
Proven experience teaching Science at the secondary level.
Strong subject knowledge and a clear understanding of the National Curriculum.
Ability to work accurately under pressure with meticulous attention to detail regarding assessment and data.
Excellent communication skills and the ability to work as part of a dedicated team.
