Head of Drama

A welcoming and ambitious secondary school in Kettering is seeking an inspiring and experienced Head of Drama to lead its thriving department from September 2026. Salary: MPS/UPS + TLR (depending on experience)

Lead, inspire and nurture creativity as Head of Drama in a forward-thinking secondary setting.

The successful candidate will be a dynamic and enthusiastic practitioner with strong subject knowledge and the ability to motivate students of all abilities. You will lead engaging Drama lessons across Key Stages 3-5, encouraging confidence, collaboration and creativity while promoting high standards of achievement and participation.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and develop the Drama department, ensuring high standards of teaching and learning
• Plan and deliver engaging Drama lessons across all key stages
• Develop schemes of work aligned with curriculum and examination requirements
• Inspire students through innovative teaching, performance opportunities and enrichment activities
• Organise and lead school productions, rehearsals and extra-curricular drama clubs
• Monitor student progress and implement strategies to support achievement
• Support and mentor colleagues within the department
• Create a positive, inclusive and well-managed learning environment
• Contribute to the wider life and ethos of the school community

Who We're Looking For:

• A qualified teacher with QTS and a degree in Drama, Performing Arts or a related subject
• Proven experience teaching Drama in a secondary school setting
• Previous leadership experience or the ambition and capability to step into a leadership role
• Strong classroom management and organisational skills
• A creative and innovative approach to teaching and learning
• A commitment to inclusion, student wellbeing and raising achievement
• The energy, enthusiasm and vision to inspire young people through the arts
