Mental Health Teaching Assistant - Corby
Location: Corby, Northamptonshire
Salary: £92.56- £95 per day (depending on experience)
Contract Type: Full-time / Long-term
Start Date: ASAP

At Tradewind Recruitment, we are currently seeking a compassionate and dedicated Mental Health Teaching Assistant to support students in schools across the Corby area. This is a rewarding opportunity for someone passionate about supporting young people with social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs.

The successful candidate will work closely with pupils who may require additional emotional and behavioural support, helping them to engage positively with learning and school life. You will support students both inside and outside of the classroom, building strong relationships and promoting a safe, nurturing environment.

The Role:

  • Supporting students with SEMH needs on a 1:1 and small group basis

  • Assisting teachers in delivering engaging lessons and interventions

  • Helping students regulate emotions and develop positive coping strategies

  • Encouraging confidence, independence, and positive behaviour

  • Working collaboratively with teaching staff, SENCOs, and external professionals

The Ideal Candidate:

  • Previous experience working with children or young people with mental health or behavioural needs

  • A calm, patient, and empathetic approach

  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills

  • A genuine passion for supporting vulnerable students

  • Relevant qualifications or experience in education, psychology, youth work, or care is desirable
