Overview
Are you a resilient and empathetic individual dedicated to supporting students who find mainstream education challenging? A leading Alternative Provision (AP) in Blackpool is seeking a committed Teaching Assistant to join their team immediately.
This is a Temp-to-Perm opportunity, offering you the chance to ensure the setting is the right fit for you while providing the school with a long-term solution for their pupils. You will focus on supporting students with SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health) needs, helping them re-engage with learning and develop vital life skills.
Key Responsibilities
Behavioural Support: Implementing de-escalation strategies and supporting students with complex emotional and social needs.
1:1 Mentoring: Building trust and rapport with specific students to boost confidence and remove barriers to learning.
Curriculum Assistance: Helping students access a modified or vocational curriculum, tailored to their individual needs.
Safeguarding: Maintaining a safe environment and following strict reporting protocols for student welfare.
Requirements (Essential)
Experience: Previous experience working with children or young people with challenging behaviour, SEMH, or within an AP/PRU setting.
DBS: You must hold an Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or be willing to apply for a new one immediately.
Resilience: A calm, patient "can-do" attitude and the ability to remain professional in high-pressure situations.
Qualifications: Team Teach or similar de-escalation training is highly desirable.
