SEN HUB Assistant | Specialist Mixed-Ability Support | Blackpool FY4
Location: Blackpool, Lancashire (FY4 Area)
Pay: £92.56 - £100 per day (Depending on experience)
Contract: Part-Time (2-4 Days), Temporary (September 2026 - July 2027)
Start Date: September 2026
Are you an inspirational educator ready to champion complex needs?
We are seeking a resilient, intuitive, and highly adaptable SEN Hub Assistant to join a specialised, high-needs provision within a thriving Academy in Blackpool.
This is a vital role within the school's "Hub" environment, designed specifically for children who require a bespoke educational pathway. You won't just be supporting a class; you will be the key to unlocking communication and learning for children with the most significant barriers to education.
The Role: Specialist Hub Support
Working within our dedicated SEN Hub, you will support a small group of children with mixed abilities and high-level SEN. This cohort includes pupils with Autism (ASC), Non-Verbal communication profiles, and significant Cognitive Delay.
Your Key Responsibilities:
Group & Individual Scaffolding: Supporting a small group where abilities vary significantly, ensuring each child accesses "small-step" learning tailored to their specific cognitive level.
Communication Specialist: Utilising non-verbal cues, sensory triggers, and alternative communication methods to connect with non-verbal learners.
Sensory Regulation: Recognising signs of sensory overload and implementing calming strategies or sensory breaks to maintain a regulated learning atmosphere.
Personal Care & Dignity: Providing essential personal care (toileting/changing/feeding) with the utmost respect and following individual healthcare plans.
Collaborative Tracking: Working closely with the Hub Lead to track progress that may not be captured by traditional academic milestones.
What We Are Looking For
To succeed in this specialist Blackpool-based role, you should possess:
SEN Expertise: Proven experience supporting children with Autism and Cognitive Delay.
Communication Tools: Proficiency (or a strong desire to train) in Makaton, PECS (Picture Exchange Communication System), or Visual Timetables.
Resilience & Physicality: The ability to stay "on your feet" and remain calm and proactive in a high-energy, high-needs environment.
Behavioural Understanding: A "low-arousal" approach to behaviour, focusing on de-escalation and understanding the "why" behind the communication.
Qualification: A Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant qualification is preferred, but substantial experience in a care or SEN setting is highly valued.
Why Join This SEN Hub?
This Academy is a leader in the FY4 area for inclusive education. By joining the Hub team, you are entering a supportive "family" of professionals who celebrate every breakthrough-no matter how small.
Specialist Environment: Work in a space equipped with sensory rooms and specialist resources.
Professional Growth: Gain unparalleled experience in high-needs SEN that will set your career apart.
Consistent Routine: Our pupils rely on familiar faces; we offer a stable, long-term placement for the full academic year.
How to Apply
If you are a character-driven individual ready to be a voice for those who communicate differently, we want to hear from you!
