Science Technician - Further Education Setting | Northampton

We are currently recruiting for a Science Technician to join a well-established further education provider in Northampton. This is a full-time opportunity with the preference for a permanent appointment, although long-term temp-to-perm arrangements will also be considered for the right candidate.

This role would suit someone with a scientific background who enjoys working in a dynamic educational environment and supporting both staff and students across a range of science courses.

About the Role

As a Science Technician, you will play a key role in supporting the Science department, ensuring practical lessons run smoothly, safely, and effectively.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Preparing and setting up equipment, materials, and chemicals for practical lessons
  • Supporting lecturers with demonstrations and practical activities when required
  • Maintaining, cleaning, and organising laboratory equipment and workspaces
  • Ensuring all health and safety regulations are followed, including the safe handling and disposal of chemicals
  • Monitoring stock levels and ordering laboratory supplies as needed
  • Carrying out routine equipment checks and basic maintenance
  • Assisting with risk assessments and ensuring compliance with safety standards

Who We're Looking For

We are looking for someone who is:

  • Experienced in a science-related environment (laboratory experience, science degree, or previous technician experience preferred)
  • Highly organised and methodical, with strong attention to detail
  • Confident in following health and safety procedures and maintaining a safe laboratory environment
  • A proactive and reliable team player with strong communication skills
  • Passionate about supporting science education and student success

Previous experience within an educational setting is desirable but not essential.
