We are working in partnership with a well-regarded secondary school in Northampton who are seeking a dedicated English Instructor to join their team as soon as possible. This is a full-time, long-term role running initially until July, with a strong opportunity to become permanent for the right candidate.

This position is ideal for someone confident in delivering English across Key Stages 3 and 4, who is keen to gain valuable classroom experience while making a meaningful impact on student progress and engagement.

The Role:

  • Deliver structured and engaging English lessons using pre-set schemes of work, with opportunities for creative input
  • Support students in developing reading, writing, spelling, and analytical skills
  • Adapt learning to meet the needs of mixed-ability groups, including students with SEND or additional needs
  • Work closely with the English department and wider pastoral teams to support student progress and wellbeing
  • Maintain a positive, focused, and well-managed classroom environment
  • Provide feedback to teaching staff on student engagement and achievement

About You:

  • Strong subject knowledge in English Language and/or Literature
  • Experience working with secondary-aged students (classroom, tutoring, mentoring, or support roles)
  • Confident, professional, and able to lead a classroom effectively
  • Patient, adaptable, and committed to helping all learners succeed
  • A degree in English or a related subject is desirable but not essential
  • A genuine interest in progressing into teaching or developing within education
