We are working in partnership with a supportive and inclusive secondary school in Kettering that is looking to appoint a committed Pastoral Officer from September. The school would ideally like to appoint on a permanent basis, although long-term supply or fixed-term contract arrangements will be considered for the right candidate.

This is a fantastic opportunity to play a key role in supporting students' personal development, attendance, behaviour, and emotional wellbeing while working as part of an experienced pastoral team.

The Role

  • Providing targeted pastoral support to students across Key Stages 3 and 4

  • Acting as a key point of contact for students who require additional guidance and encouragement

  • Supporting attendance, punctuality, behaviour, and engagement through proactive intervention and monitoring

  • Working closely with teachers, pastoral leaders, parents, and external agencies to ensure students receive the support they need

  • Assisting with behaviour support strategies and restorative approaches to conflict resolution

  • Supporting students facing social, emotional, behavioural, or wellbeing challenges

  • Maintaining accurate records and contributing to safeguarding and student welfare processes

  • Promoting a positive, safe, and inclusive school environment where all students can thrive

The Ideal Candidate

  • Has experience working with young people in a school, youth work, mentoring, pastoral, or support setting

  • Builds strong and professional relationships with students and colleagues

  • Demonstrates empathy, resilience, and a calm approach when managing challenging situations

  • Possesses excellent communication and organisational skills

  • Is proactive, reliable, and committed to improving outcomes for young people

  • Understands the importance of safeguarding and student welfare
