Inclusion Mentor - Northampton
Start Date: September 2026 | Full-Time | Permanent Position

We are supporting a friendly and forward-thinking secondary school in Northampton that is looking to appoint a dedicated Inclusion Mentor on a permanent basis from September 2026. This is a full-time opportunity to make a meaningful and lasting difference to the lives of young people across the school community.
In this role, you will work closely with students who may be experiencing challenges such as SEND needs, SEMH difficulties, low confidence, attendance issues, or behavioural barriers. Your focus will be on building positive relationships, increasing engagement, and ensuring students feel fully included and supported in school life.
You will deliver both one-to-one mentoring and small group interventions, working in partnership with the pastoral team, SENCO, and teaching staff to provide a consistent and effective support system. A key part of the role will be helping students develop emotional regulation, resilience, and the confidence to engage positively with learning.
The Role Will Include:
- Providing tailored one-to-one mentoring support for students
- Delivering small group interventions focused on behaviour, wellbeing, and engagement
- Supporting students in overcoming barriers to attendance and learning
- Building positive, trusting relationships with young people
- Working collaboratively with pastoral staff, SENCO, and teachers
- Promoting self-esteem, emotional wellbeing, and positive behaviour
- Supporting safeguarding procedures and maintaining accurate records where required
We're Looking For:
- Experience working with young people (education, youth work, care, coaching, or similar settings)
- Strong communication skills and the ability to build rapport quickly
- A calm, patient, and resilient approach
- Good understanding of safeguarding responsibilities
- Knowledge of SEND and/or SEMH needs is beneficial
- Ability to work well independently and as part of a wider team
- A genuine commitment to inclusion and improving outcomes for young people
