Tradewind Recruitment is working with welcoming and inclusive schools in Corby who are seeking dedicated School Librarians to join their teams from September 2026.

What Does a School Librarian Do?

As a School Librarian, you'll be much more than a guardian of books - you'll be a literacy champion, a trusted source of support, and an important part of creating a positive learning environment for students. You'll play a key role in encouraging independent learning, improving literacy skills, and inspiring students to explore the world of reading.

Key Duties Will Include:

  • Managing the day-to-day running of the school library

  • Supporting students in accessing and using library resources effectively

  • Organising and maintaining the library catalogue and lending systems

  • Promoting reading for pleasure through displays, book clubs, and literacy activities

  • Supporting students with research skills and resource selection

  • Creating a calm, welcoming, and inclusive environment for reading and study

  • Working alongside teachers to support literacy and curriculum-based learning initiatives

  • Encouraging students to develop confidence and independence in their learning

Who We're Looking For:

  • Previous experience working in a library, education, administration, or similar environment is desirable

  • A genuine passion for reading, books, and supporting young people

  • Excellent organisational skills with strong attention to detail

  • Confident IT skills, including experience using cataloguing systems and online resources

  • Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with students and staff

  • A calm, approachable, and proactive attitude

  • Knowledge of children's and young adult literature is desirable
