Secondary Teaching Assistant
Location: Islington
Pay: £95-£110 per day (depending on experience)
Start Date: September 2026
Contract: Full-time | Monday to Friday | Term Time Only

Are you passionate about supporting young people to reach their full potential? Tradewind Recruitment is working with an ambitious and inclusive secondary school in Islington looking to appoint an enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to join their dedicated support team.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with experience working with young people or a graduate looking to gain invaluable school-based experience before progressing into teaching, psychology, youth work or educational support.

About the Role

Working alongside experienced teachers and the school's SEND department, you will support students across Key Stages 3 and 4. Every day is different, and you'll play an important role in helping students overcome barriers to learning while encouraging independence and confidence.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting students within mainstream lessons across a range of subjects.
  • Providing one-to-one support for pupils who require additional guidance.
  • Delivering small group intervention sessions in literacy, numeracy and core subjects.
  • Supporting students with SEND including ASD, ADHD and moderate learning difficulties.
  • Helping teachers prepare classroom resources and learning activities.
  • Encouraging positive behaviour and helping students remain engaged throughout lessons.
  • Monitoring progress and feeding back to teachers and the SENDCo.

The Ideal Candidate

  • Experience working with children or young people in schools, tutoring, youth work, coaching or mentoring.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Calm, patient and resilient approach.
  • Genuine passion for education.
  • A proactive attitude and willingness to get involved in school life.
