PE Teaching Assistant - Alternative Provision School

Tradewind Recruitment are recruiting for a dedicated PE Teaching Assistant to join our client school, an Alternative Provision in Bromley-by-Bow, from 1st September.

Working with pupils aged 11-18, you will support the PE department by encouraging participation in sports and physical activity while helping students develop confidence, teamwork and resilience.

Many pupils have Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs and benefit from structured physical activities that improve wellbeing and engagement with education.

Responsibilities

  • Support PE lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4.
  • Encourage positive participation in a variety of sports and fitness activities.
  • Deliver small group interventions.
  • Support pupils with SEMH needs during practical activities.
  • Promote teamwork, resilience and healthy lifestyles.
  • Help manage behaviour positively throughout lessons.
  • Assist with extracurricular sports where appropriate.

Requirements

  • Previous experience supporting young people with SEMH is essential.
  • Experience in schools, Alternative Provision or youth work.
  • Passion for sport and physical education.
  • Positive role model with excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to motivate disengaged learners.
  • Team player with a proactive attitude.
