We are working in partnership with a welcoming and inclusive secondary school in Wellingborough who are looking to appoint a dedicated and compassionate Learning Support Assistant to join their team from September 2026.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is passionate about supporting young people and wants to make a meaningful difference to students' educational experiences. The school is ideally seeking someone for a full-time permanent position, however long-term temporary and temp-to-permanent opportunities will also be considered for the right candidate.

This role would suit someone who is patient, proactive, and committed to supporting students with special educational needs (SEN). Whether you have previous experience in education, care, youth work, mentoring, or are looking to begin a career in schools, this position provides valuable classroom experience within a supportive environment.

The Role

  • Provide one-to-one and small group support to students with additional learning needs

  • Support pupils with autism, ADHD, SEMH, learning difficulties, and other SEN requirements

  • Assist teachers with lesson activities, classroom organisation, and adapted resources

  • Encourage students' confidence, independence, and engagement with learning

  • Support positive behaviour and emotional wellbeing throughout the school day

  • Help create a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment

  • Build strong, positive relationships with students and staff

The Ideal Candidate

  • Has a genuine passion for supporting young people, particularly those with additional needs

  • Demonstrates patience, empathy, and a calm approach when supporting students

  • Has strong communication skills and the ability to build trusting relationships

  • Is reliable, flexible, and able to work effectively as part of a team

  • Experience within education, SEN, care, mentoring, or youth work is desirable but not essential

  • Is enthusiastic about developing their skills and progressing within education
