We are working in partnership with a welcoming and well-regarded secondary school in Northampton who are looking to appoint a confident and enthusiastic Cover Supervisor to join their team from September 2026.
This is an excellent opportunity to gain valuable classroom experience in a supportive school environment while making a real difference to students' learning and behaviour. The school's preference is to appoint someone on a full-time permanent basis, although long-term temp-to-perm and temporary opportunities will also be considered for the right candidate.
What is a Cover Supervisor?
As a Cover Supervisor, you will supervise classes during teacher absences, ensuring students remain engaged with the work set and maintain high standards of behaviour. Lesson plans and resources will already be prepared, allowing you to focus on supporting learning and managing the classroom effectively.
Key Responsibilities
Supervise whole classes across KS3 and KS4 in a range of subjects
Ensure students complete the work set by the class teacher
Maintain a positive, calm, and structured classroom environment
Manage behaviour in line with the school's behaviour policy
Report any concerns or incidents to relevant members of staff
Support wider school duties, including break and corridor supervision
Build positive relationships with students and staff
Act as a positive role model at all times
Who We're Looking For
Experience working with young people (education, coaching, youth work, mentoring, care, or similar)
A confident, calm, and professional classroom presence
Strong communication and behaviour management skills
Reliable, punctual, and adaptable within a school environment
A genuine interest in education and supporting young people's development
An aspiring teacher or someone looking to build a career in education
