Tradewind Recruitment are seeking a caring, patient, and dedicated 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming primary school in the DE24 area of Derby. This rewarding role involves supporting a pupil on a one-to-one basis, helping them access learning, build confidence, and achieve their full potential both academically and socially.

This position would suit someone with previous experience supporting children with Special Educational Needs (SEN), including Autism (ASD), ADHD, speech and language difficulties, or social, emotional and mental health needs (SEMH).

The Role:

• Provide dedicated 1:1 support to a pupil with additional needs.
• Adapt learning activities to meet the individual needs of the child.
• Support the development of social, emotional, and communication skills.
• Work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to implement personalised support strategies.
• Encourage engagement, independence, and positive behaviour.
• Monitor and record progress against individual targets.

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

• Previous experience working with children or young people with SEN.
• A patient, nurturing, and resilient approach.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
• The ability to remain calm and supportive in challenging situations.
• A genuine passion for helping children overcome barriers to learning.
• An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one).
