SEN Teaching Assistant (ASD & ADHD Specialist)

Are you an experienced and compassionate Teaching Assistant with a passion for supporting children with Autism (ASD) and ADHD?

Tradewind Recruitment is currently seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join a supportive and inclusive school in the DE24 area of Derby. This is a full-time role supporting pupils with additional needs, helping them to access education, develop confidence, and achieve their full potential both academically and socially.

About the Role

As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will:

  • Provide tailored 1:1 and small-group support for pupils with ASD and ADHD.
  • Implement strategies to support emotional regulation, focus, and engagement in learning.
  • Work closely with class teachers, SENCOs, and external professionals to deliver personalised support plans.
  • Foster positive relationships and become a trusted, consistent adult for pupils.
  • Support the development of social skills, communication, and independence.
  • Help maintain a calm, structured, and inclusive learning environment.

We're Looking For Someone Who:

  • Has previous experience supporting children with ASD, ADHD, or other additional needs.
  • Understands the importance of routine, consistency, and positive behaviour support strategies.
  • Is patient, resilient, and able to remain calm under pressure.
  • Can build strong relationships with pupils who may find school challenging.
  • Has excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Holds a Teaching Assistant qualification or relevant experience in education, care, youth work, or support services.
