1:1 Teaching Assistant - SEN Support Hub (DE24)

Are you a passionate and dedicated Teaching Assistant looking to make a genuine difference in the lives of children with additional needs?
Tradewind Recruitment is working in partnership with a welcoming and inclusive secondary academy in Derby to recruit a committed 1:1 Teaching Assistant to support students within a specialist SEN Hub on a full-time basis.
This is an exciting opportunity to join a supportive school environment where every child is encouraged to reach their potential. You will work closely with pupils who have a range of additional needs, providing tailored support to help them access learning, develop confidence, and thrive both academically and socially.
The Role
As a 1:1 Teaching Assistant, you will:
- Provide dedicated support to students with Special Educational Needs.
- Build positive relationships and act as a trusted adult.
- Support pupils both within the SEN Hub and mainstream lessons where appropriate.
- Work alongside teachers, SENCOs, and external professionals to deliver personalised learning strategies.
- Encourage independence, emotional regulation, and social development.
- Help create a safe, engaging, and nurturing learning environment.
The Ideal Candidate
We are looking for someone who:
- Has experience working with children or young people with SEN, including Autism, ADHD, SEMH, speech and language needs, or learning difficulties.
- Is patient, resilient, and adaptable.
- Has strong communication and relationship-building skills.
- Is passionate about supporting young people to overcome barriers to learning.
- Holds a Teaching Assistant qualification or relevant support work experience (desirable but not essential).
