KS3 and KS4 Science teaching vacancy within an established Secondary Academy, suitable for a teacher with strong classroom and curriculum knowledge.


Join an established Science department as a Teacher of Science at a Secondary Academy in Chesham, Buckinghamshire. The position involves teaching pupils across KS3 and KS4 and would suit a qualified teacher looking for a well-supported secondary classroom role.

A practical teaching opportunity

The academy provides education for secondary-aged pupils and has established curriculum provision across the core subjects. The Science department teaches pupils through Key Stage 3 and into GCSE, with appropriate support available from the wider teaching team.

Your week will involve a mixture of classroom teaching, lesson preparation, assessment and normal departmental responsibilities.

Key responsibilities

  • Deliver Science lessons across KS3 and KS4
  • Plan lessons in line with curriculum requirements
  • Adapt teaching to support different levels of attainment
  • Monitor pupil progress and provide constructive feedback
  • Prepare pupils for GCSE examinations where applicable
  • Maintain appropriate behaviour and classroom standards
  • Work collaboratively with other Science staff
  • Contribute to departmental meetings and wider school activities

The Candidate

The school is looking for someone who can take responsibility for their own teaching timetable and establish consistent classroom expectations.

You will ideally have:

  • QTS or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification
  • Secondary Science teaching experience
  • KS3 and KS4 curriculum knowledge
  • Strong subject knowledge
  • Good classroom management
  • A clear and organised approach to lesson planning
  • The ability to work effectively within a department
  • An Enhanced DBS or willingness to obtain one
