We are working closely with a welcoming and inclusive primary school in Rushden who are seeking a caring, patient, and dedicated SEN 1:1 Teaching Assistant to support a Year 5 pupil from September 2026.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is passionate about supporting children with additional needs and wants to provide consistent, individualised support within a nurturing primary school environment.

The successful candidate will work closely with a Year 5 pupil on a one-to-one basis, helping them overcome barriers to learning, develop their independence, and engage positively with school life. You will work alongside the class teacher and SEN team to provide tailored support based on the pupil's individual needs.

Your Role Will Involve:

• Providing dedicated 1:1 support to a Year 5 pupil with additional needs

• Supporting the pupil's academic, social, and emotional development

• Assisting the class teacher with personalised learning activities and interventions

• Helping the pupil remain focused and engaged during lessons

• Supporting emotional regulation and positive behaviour

• Encouraging independence, confidence, and self-esteem

• Supporting communication and social skills development

• Helping the pupil access the curriculum and overcome barriers to learning

• Providing reassurance and consistency throughout the school day

• Building a positive and trusting relationship with the pupil

• Working collaboratively with the class teacher, SENCO, and wider school staff

• Supporting the pupil during lessons, transitions, breaktimes, and other areas of school life where required

• Can build a strong and trusting relationship with a child

• Has a calm and consistent approach

• Is confident supporting a child on a 1:1 basis

• Demonstrates excellent communication and interpersonal skills

• Is resilient, proactive, and adaptable

• Can encourage independence while providing appropriate support

• Has experience working with children in a school, care, nursery, youth work, or similar setting (desirable but not essential)

• Is enthusiastic about developing their knowledge and skills within a primary school environment
