We are working with a supportive and inclusive primary school in Rushden that is looking to appoint a dedicated Teaching Assistant to join their team from September 2026.

This is an excellent opportunity for an enthusiastic and caring individual who enjoys working closely with children and is committed to helping pupils overcome barriers to learning and achieve their full potential.

The successful candidate will provide 1:1 support to a child in Key Stage 2, helping them access the curriculum, develop their confidence and independence, and engage positively with their education.

Working alongside the class teacher, SENDCo, and wider school team, you will provide consistent and tailored support to meet the pupil's individual needs while contributing to a nurturing and inclusive classroom environment.

The Role

• Provide dedicated 1:1 support to a Key Stage 2 pupil, adapting your approach to meet their individual needs

• Support the pupil with their learning, confidence, independence, and emotional wellbeing

• Work alongside the class teacher to help deliver engaging lessons and classroom activities

• Assist the pupil in accessing the curriculum through personalised support and targeted interventions

• Support the child with any additional learning, communication, social, or emotional needs

• Encourage positive behaviour, resilience, self-confidence, and independence

• Build a strong and trusting relationship with the pupil to help them feel secure, supported, and motivated

• Provide consistent support throughout the school day, including lessons, transitions, and where appropriate break and lunchtime

• Work collaboratively with teachers, SEND staff, and other professionals to support the pupil's progress

• Monitor and share feedback on the pupil's development, engagement, and achievements

• Help maintain a safe, inclusive, and positive learning environment

• Can build positive and trusting relationships with pupils

• Has excellent communication and interpersonal skills

• Works well independently and as part of a wider school team

• Is adaptable, reliable, and confident responding to different pupil needs

• Can remain calm and consistent when faced with challenging situations

• Has experience working with children through schools, childcare, volunteering, mentoring, coaching, or support roles (desirable but not essential)

• Is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
