Tradewind Recruitment is working with a welcoming primary school in Rushden that is looking for a reliable and adaptable Cover Teacher to join their team on a long-term, full-time basis.

This role offers the opportunity to work across all primary year groups, providing continuity of learning when the usual class teacher is unavailable. You will be responsible for delivering planned lessons, managing the classroom, and ensuring pupils remain engaged and supported throughout the school day.

What is a Cover Teacher?

As a Cover Teacher, you will step into different classrooms and deliver pre-planned lessons across the primary curriculum. You could be working with Early Years one day and supporting upper Key Stage 2 the next, making this an ideal role for someone who enjoys variety and is confident adapting to different pupils and classroom environments.

You will play an important role in maintaining consistency for pupils and ensuring learning continues effectively in the absence of their usual teacher.

Key Duties Will Include:

• Delivering pre-planned lessons across EYFS, Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2.

• Covering a range of subjects across the primary curriculum.

• Working across different year groups and adapting your approach accordingly.

• Maintaining a positive, calm, and engaging classroom environment.

• Managing behaviour in line with the school's policies and expectations.

• Following lesson plans and using school resources effectively.

• Supporting pupils with their learning and encouraging active participation.

• Providing appropriate feedback to class teachers and school leaders.

• Maintaining classroom routines and ensuring pupils remain on task.

• Supporting transitions, break times, lunchtimes, and other school routines where required.

• Acting as a positive and professional role model for pupils.

Who We're Looking For:

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or strong previous classroom experience.

• Experience working within a primary school environment.

• Confidence teaching across different primary year groups.

• Strong classroom and behaviour management skills.

• The ability to quickly establish positive relationships with pupils.

• A flexible and adaptable approach to teaching.

• Excellent communication and organisational skills.

• A calm, professional, and approachable manner.

• Reliable and committed to maintaining high standards of learning.
