Tradewind Recruitment are currently recruiting for a dedicated and enthusiastic Learning Support Assistant to join a welcoming school in the Milton Keynes area.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is passionate about supporting young people and helping them overcome barriers to learning. The role would suit an experienced Teaching Assistant or Learning Support Assistant, as well as candidates with relevant backgrounds in care, youth work, support work, mentoring or other child-focused roles.

The Role

As a Learning Support Assistant, you will work closely with teaching staff to provide additional support to students throughout the school day. You will help pupils engage with their learning, develop confidence and make positive progress both academically and personally.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Providing one-to-one and small-group support to students

• Supporting pupils with their learning across the school day

• Helping students overcome barriers to learning and remain engaged

• Assisting teachers with classroom activities and learning resources

• Supporting pupils who may have additional learning, behavioural or emotional needs

• Encouraging positive behaviour and promoting independence

• Building positive and trusting relationships with students

• Helping create a safe, inclusive and supportive classroom environment

• Working closely with teachers, pastoral staff and other support professionals

• Supporting students to develop confidence, resilience and independence

The Ideal Candidate

The successful candidate will be:

• Passionate about supporting children and young people

• Patient, approachable and able to build positive relationships

• Confident supporting students on a one-to-one and small-group basis

• Able to remain calm and professional when dealing with challenging situations

• A strong communicator with good interpersonal skills

• Adaptable and able to respond to different students' needs

• Comfortable working independently and as part of a wider team

• Committed to helping students achieve their potential

Previous experience within a school would be beneficial, but is not essential. We would also welcome applications from candidates with experience in:

• SEN or SEND support

• Care or residential care

• Youth work

• Behaviour support

• Mentoring

• Sports coaching

• Children's services

• Community or support work
