SEND Teaching Assistant - KS1

£93-£100 per day (depending on experience) | Full-time, 5 days per week | Long-term opportunity | Immediate start

Tradewind Recruitment is seeking a caring, patient and dedicated SEND Teaching Assistant to support a KS1 child with social, emotional and behavioural difficulties at a lovely two form entry Primary school in Wandsworth.

As this is an asap start, trials are being held the week commencing 12th October.

SEND Teaching Assistant

As a SEND Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with a KS1 pupil, providing consistent one-to-one support to help them access learning, develop positive relationships and manage their emotions throughout the school day.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing tailored one-to-one support to meet the child's individual needs.
  • Supporting emotional regulation and helping the child develop positive coping strategies.
  • Building a trusting relationship to create a safe and secure learning environment.
  • Encouraging positive behaviour, social interaction and independence.
  • Supporting the child to engage with classroom activities and the wider school environment.
  • Working collaboratively with the class teacher, SENCO and wider school team to ensure consistent support.

The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has experience supporting children with SEND, particularly social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs.
  • Is calm, patient, empathetic and resilient.
  • Understands the importance of positive relationships and consistent boundaries.
  • Can respond sensitively to emotional challenges and challenging behaviour.
  • Is proactive, adaptable and passionate about helping children succeed.
  • Is available to work five days per week on a long-term basis.
