Position: Engineering Lecturer
Hours: 35 hours per week
Pay Rate: £25-£40 per hour
Start Date: ASAP
Duration: Until at least Christmas 2026

Tradewind Recruitment is currently seeking an enthusiastic, knowledgeable and dedicated Engineering Lecturer to join a local college in Hull on a full-time basis. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Engineering Lecturer or a skilled engineering professional with teaching experience to support students across Level 2 and Level 3 Engineering courses, with some teaching at HND Level 4.

The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering engaging, high-quality teaching, helping students develop their technical knowledge, practical engineering skills and understanding of industry standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver engaging lessons across Level 2 and Level 3 Engineering programmes, with some teaching at HND Level 4.
  • Teach both theoretical and practical engineering topics, ensuring students develop a strong understanding of core engineering principles.
  • Prepare and deliver lesson plans, learning materials, assignments and practical activities that meet curriculum requirements.
  • Assess students' work, provide constructive feedback and monitor progress against learning objectives.
  • Support students in developing practical skills, problem-solving abilities and confidence in applying engineering principles.
  • Maintain accurate records of attendance, assessment results and student progress.
  • Differentiate teaching approaches to meet the needs of learners with varying abilities and learning styles.
  • Promote a safe working environment by ensuring health and safety procedures are followed during practical sessions and workshop activities.
  • Support students in preparing for examinations, coursework deadlines and practical assessments.
  • Contribute to the ongoing development of the engineering curriculum and maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry practices.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to support student achievement, engagement and progression into further education or employment.

The Ideal Candidate

  • Relevant qualifications in Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Previous experience teaching, lecturing or training in an engineering environment.
  • Strong technical knowledge and the ability to deliver engineering content at Level 2 and Level 3, with the confidence to support some HND Level 4 teaching.
  • Excellent communication, organisational and classroom management skills.
  • A commitment to supporting learners and helping them achieve their full potential.
  • An understanding of health and safety requirements in engineering workshops and practical learning environments.
  • A relevant teaching qualification would be advantageous.

  • Have experience working as an Engineering Lecturer, or working in a learning support assistant role
  • Have experience working within schools in the UK.
  • Have a PGCE or Cert Ed (or the willingness to work towards)
  • Enhanced DBS Disclosure, Overseas Police Clearances (if applicable) and professional reference checks
  • CV must cover the full CV History
  • Legal right to work in the UK
