Job Description

Graduate Teaching Assistants - Bolton Primary Schools

Tradewind Recruitment | Full-Time Opportunities

Have a degree and experience working with children? Your next opportunity could be in a school!

Tradewind Recruitment is looking for enthusiastic graduates to join primary schools across Bolton and the surrounding areas. Whether your degree is in Sport, Psychology, English, Business, Sociology or another subject entirely, we want to hear from you!

If you've spent time working with children and are now considering a career in education, these roles offer the chance to gain valuable school-based experience while making a real difference to pupils' learning and development.

Where are the opportunities?

We work with primary schools throughout Bolton, including:

Horwich, Blackrod, Westhoughton, Farnworth, Little Lever, Kearsley, Egerton and surrounding areas.

A variety of placements are available, depending on the needs of each school and your experience.

What could your role involve?

We recruit graduates for a range of school support positions, including:

  • Classroom Teaching Assistant: Supporting teachers with lessons, classroom activities and pupils' everyday learning.

  • 1:1 Support: Working closely with individual pupils who need additional help and encouragement.

  • SEND Support: Assisting children with special educational needs and disabilities.

  • SEMH and Behaviour Support: Helping pupils manage challenges, develop positive relationships and engage with school life.

  • Targeted Pupil Support: Helping children build confidence, develop skills and access learning activities.

Most positions are full-time, Monday to Friday, with typical hours of 8:30am-3:30pm.

Who are we looking for?

You don't need an Education Studies degree or a teaching qualification to apply. We welcome graduates from any subject area who can demonstrate relevant experience working with children.

To be considered, you will need:

  • A degree in any discipline.

  • At least six months' experience working with children or young people.

  • A positive, patient and proactive approach.

  • Confidence building relationships with children and working as part of a team.

  • A genuine interest in supporting children's education and wellbeing.

Your experience could come from a school, nursery, sports coaching, tutoring, youth work, children's residential care or another relevant setting. Experience supporting children with SEND or behavioural needs would be an advantage.

Where could this opportunity lead?

Working in a primary school is an excellent way to develop transferable skills and explore whether a future in education is right for you.

You'll gain practical experience, learn from experienced teaching staff and develop your understanding of classroom life. If teaching is your long-term ambition, the experience may also strengthen future applications for PGCE or other teacher training programmes.

Some of the trusts we work with operate their own SCITT teacher training programmes, which may provide further progression opportunities for eligible candidates.

Interested in getting started?

If you're a graduate with at least six months' experience working with children and want to explore opportunities in Bolton primary schools, Tradewind Recruitment would love to hear from you.
