Upper KS2 Primary Teacher - One-Year Maternity Cover

Tradewind Recruitment is working with a welcoming primary school in Barnet seeking a committed and enthusiastic Year 6 Teacher to join their team from January 2027 on a one-year maternity cover contract.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced primary teacher who enjoys working in upper KS2 and is confident preparing pupils for the transition to secondary school.

The Role:

  • Take responsibility for a Year 6 class, delivering engaging and well-structured lessons.

  • Plan, prepare and deliver lessons in line with the National Curriculum.

  • Support pupils in their preparation for KS2 SATs.

  • Monitor, assess and track pupil progress, adapting teaching to meet individual needs.

  • Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment.

  • Work collaboratively with colleagues, parents and the wider school team.

The Ideal Candidate:

  • Holds Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).

  • Has previous experience teaching within upper KS2, ideally Year 6.

  • Has a strong understanding of the Year 6 curriculum and SATs requirements.

  • Is confident managing classroom behaviour and supporting different learning needs.

  • Is organised, approachable and committed to achieving positive outcomes for pupils.
