This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced and passionate English teacher and leader to drive the department forward, inspire both staff and students, and play a key role in raising achievement across the school.

The Role

As Head of English, you will:

• Lead, manage and develop the English department, ensuring consistently high standards of teaching and learning.

• Inspire, motivate and support a team of dedicated English teachers.

• Drive student progress and attainment across English Language and Literature.

• Develop and deliver an engaging, ambitious and challenging curriculum.

• Monitor departmental performance and implement strategies to secure continuous improvement.

• Foster a love of reading, writing and literature, creating a culture where students are encouraged to think critically and creatively.

• Create a positive learning environment where all students are supported to achieve their full potential.

The Ideal Candidate

The successful candidate will:

• Be an outstanding and enthusiastic English teacher.

• Have proven experience of leading or managing an English department, or be an ambitious middle leader ready to take the next step.

• Demonstrate excellent subject knowledge across English Language and Literature.

• Have a strong track record of improving student outcomes.

• Be an inspirational leader with the ability to motivate, support and develop colleagues.

• Have high expectations and a genuine passion for education.
