SEN Teaching Assistant - Northampton

We are currently partnering with several forward-thinking SEND schools and alternative provisions in Northampton that are looking for dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistants to join their teams from September 2025.

Whether you have previous experience supporting students with additional needs or are eager to start your career in SEN education, this is a fantastic opportunity to work closely with children and young people across Key Stages 3 and 4, including those with a range of learning, communication, and behavioural challenges.

About the Role:

  • Provide personalised one-to-one and small group support for students with SEND, SEMH, EAL, or behavioural needs

  • Support students during lessons and independent activities, fostering engagement, confidence, and progress

  • Assist teachers with lesson preparation, classroom management, and creating tailored learning resources

  • Promote positive behaviour and emotional wellbeing using effective strategies and clear boundaries

  • Help maintain a safe, inclusive, and structured classroom environment

  • Observe and monitor student development, reporting progress to inform teaching and interventions

We're Looking For:

  • A caring, patient, and proactive individual with a genuine passion for supporting young people with SEND

  • Experience working with children or young people in educational or care settings, youth groups, or similar environments

  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and families

  • An understanding or interest in SEND, safeguarding, and behaviour support strategies (training provided)

  • A flexible and reliable team player, ready to contribute meaningfully to a supportive school community

  • Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant qualifications are desirable but not essential
