Job Description

Full-Time Cover Teachers with Subject Specialisms - Mid to Long-Term Contracts

Location: Northampton
Start Date: September 2025 (or sooner by negotiation)
Contract: Full-time | Fixed-Term and Long-Term Opportunities Available
Salary: MPS/UPS (dependent on experience and contract length)

The Opportunity

We are actively seeking committed and adaptable Full-Time Cover Teachers with subject specialisms to join our teaching team for mid- to long-term placements in secondary schools across Northampton. These roles are ideal for subject-qualified teachers who are confident delivering across their specialism while stepping in to support broader curriculum cover when needed.

You will be joining a network of supportive staff who value high-quality teaching, strong relationships, and a consistent presence for students. This is an excellent opportunity to gain experience in different school settings or to secure longer-term stability without a permanent post initially.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality lessons across your subject specialism at Key Stages 3 and/or 4

  • Provide general subject cover where necessary, using pre-prepared materials

  • Ensure continuity of learning and behaviour expectations in the absence of regular teachers

  • Contribute to departmental planning and assessments where appropriate for longer-term roles

  • Build positive relationships with students, maintaining a calm and consistent classroom environment

  • Engage in school life and uphold safeguarding and behaviour policies

What We're Looking For

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)

  • Specialism in a core or EBacc subject (English, Maths, Science, Humanities, MFL, or similar)

  • Experience teaching KS3 and/or KS4

  • A flexible and professional approach to teaching in varied contexts

  • Strong classroom management and the ability to build quick rapport with pupils

  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the wellbeing of young people

What We Offer

  • Full-time, longer-term opportunities with the potential to lead to permanent roles

  • Access to a range of placements in supportive and well-managed Northamptonshire schools

  • Opportunity to teach your specialism while contributing across the wider curriculum

  • Professional development and mentoring if required

  • Competitive pay rates aligned with teaching scale

If you're ready to take on a flexible and rewarding teaching role, apply now to become a Cover Teacher in Northampton this September.
Make a difference-one lesson at a time.
