Forest School Teacher - Burnley, Lancashire (October 2026)

About the Role:

Are you passionate about connecting children with the natural world? Do you believe that the best learning happens outdoors? We are looking for an enthusiastic and experienced individual to join our team in Burnley as a Forest School Teacher.

This is not a traditional classroom role. Your classroom will be the woodlands and green spaces of Lancashire, and your curriculum will be driven by the seasons and the interests of the children. While we value the Forest School ethos, we don't require you to be a fully qualified Forest School Leader at the outset. We are committed to providing full training and support to the right candidate.

What We're Looking For:

  • Essential Experience: You must have a demonstrable background in outdoor education, youth work, or a similar field. You should be comfortable working with children and young people in a practical, hands-on outdoor setting.

  • Passion for the Outdoors: A genuine love for nature and the confidence to lead sessions in all weather conditions.

  • Resilience & Patience: The ability to be adaptable, resourceful, and patient, particularly when working with diverse groups of learners.

  • Safety Conscious: A strong understanding of risk assessment and health and safety in an outdoor environment.

  • Team Player: A collaborative spirit to work with our existing team and contribute to a supportive learning community.

We Will Provide:

  • Full Forest School Training: We will fund your Level 3 Forest School Leader qualification with an accredited provider.

  • Ongoing professional development and mentoring.

  • The chance to make a real and lasting impact on the lives of children.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver engaging, learner-led Forest School sessions.

  • Foster a safe and supportive environment where children can build confidence, resilience, and problem-solving skills.

  • Utilise bush-craft, nature-based art, tool use, and other activities to facilitate learning.

  • Maintain the Forest School site and equipment to high standards.

  • Document and celebrate student progress in a holistic, non-traditional way.

Start Date: October 2026
