We are looking for a compassionate and proactive Pastoral Support Worker to join a thriving secondary school in Westminster. This is a fantastic opportunity to support the wellbeing, behaviour, and personal development of students, including those with additional needs, and to help create a positive and inclusive school environment.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Work directly with pupils who require additional pastoral care, including those with Special Educational Needs (SEN) and those experiencing barriers to learning.
Provide one-to-one mentoring and small group interventions focused on behaviour management, emotional wellbeing, and social skills.
Support SEN provision by working alongside the SENCO, ensuring that students with EHCPs and identified needs receive tailored support.
Monitor attendance, punctuality, and engagement, and implement strategies to encourage positive outcomes.
Liaise with teachers, parents, and external agencies to build a strong support network around each student.
Help to implement restorative approaches and behaviour management strategies across the school.
Contribute to safeguarding processes by reporting concerns and maintaining accurate records.
Requirements and Qualifications:
Previous experience in a pastoral, youth work, mentoring, or SEN support role.
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build trust and rapport quickly with young people.
Patience, resilience, and a calm approach to managing challenging behaviour.
Knowledge of safeguarding, child protection, and behaviour management practices.
Training or qualifications in youth work, counselling, or SEN support are desirable but not essential.
