SEN Learning Support Assistant - 1:1 (ASD, Non-Verbal Student)
Location: Camden
Start Date: After October Half Term
Contract: Full Time, Long-Term Role
A mainstream primary school in Camden is looking for a passionate and experienced SEN Learning Support Assistant to join their supportive team after October half term. This is a full-time, long-term role working 1:1 with a child who is non-verbal and has Autism (ASD) with an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP).

Role Overview:
Provide 1:1 support for a child with ASD, focusing on communication, social interaction, and classroom engagement
Use a range of strategies to support a non-verbal child, such as PECS, visual timetables, and sensory activities
Implement and review the child's EHCP targets in collaboration with the SENCO and class teacher
Support the child with both academic and social development, ensuring they can access the curriculum
Build a strong, trusting relationship to encourage positive behaviour, independence, and confidence
Work in partnership with parents, external professionals, and the wider school team
Requirements:
At least one year of experience supporting children with ASD in a school or SEN setting
Prior experience working with non-verbal children (desirable)
Knowledge of communication methods such as PECS or Makaton (advantageous)
Strong behaviour management skills and the ability to adapt to changing situations
A patient, empathetic, and resilient approach to supporting children with additional needs
Commitment to fostering an inclusive and nurturing learning environment
