Job Description

Temporary-to-Permanent Contract | Start Date: Monday 3rd November 2025

Location: Blackpool, Lancashire (Must be a driver for home visits)

Are you an experienced and resilient SEN Teaching Assistant with a passion for supporting pupils with complex Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) and Behavioural needs? We are looking for a highly skilled individual to join our dedicated team on a Temp-to-Perm basis.

This crucial role involves working closely with pupils who require intensive support to manage their behaviour and re-engage with their learning. A significant element of this position includes conducting essential home visits and attending external meetings, making a valid UK driving licence and access to a vehicle essential.

The Role and Responsibilities

  • Provide one-to-one and small-group support to pupils with SEN, particularly SEMH and challenging behaviour.

  • Implement tailored behaviour management strategies and de-escalation techniques, working under the guidance of the SENCO and teaching staff.

  • Assist in the delivery of a modified curriculum and therapeutic interventions to promote pupil well-being and academic progress.

  • Conduct planned and essential home visits to support family engagement and maintain communication between the school and home environment (driving is essential for this duty).

  • Contribute to the assessment, planning, and review of Education, Health and Care (EHC) Plans.

  • Act as a positive role model, fostering a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment.

Essential Requirements

  • Proven experience working as a Teaching Assistant or support worker with children/young people displaying challenging behaviour or SEMH needs.

  • Knowledge of effective behaviour management strategies and understanding of SEN legislation.

  • A valid UK Driving Licence and access to a vehicle is mandatory for carrying out home visits and off-site duties.

  • Excellent communication skills, resilience, and a patient, nurturing approach.

  • Relevant qualification (e.g., Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant, or equivalent experience).

The Offer

This is an excellent opportunity to secure a long-term position, starting as a temporary contract with a strong view to becoming permanent after a qualifying period.

  • Contract: Temporary initially, leading to permanent employment.

  • Start Date: Monday 3rd November 2025.

  • Salary: Competitive, reflecting experience and specialist nature of the role (paid weekly/monthly as per agency/school scale).

  • Location: Based in Blackpool, serving pupils across the local area.

To apply, please submit your CV and a brief statement detailing your experience with behavioural support and your ability to drive for home visits to rachael.boaler@twrecruitment.com or click apply.

We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expect all staff to share this commitment. This post is subject to an enhanced DBS check and satisfactory references.
