Are you a highly skilled Youth Worker, Pastoral Lead, or experienced professional from a similar discipline (e.g., prison service, social services, alternative provision) with exceptional behaviour management expertise?
A proactive secondary school in Blackpool is seeking a dedicated individual to manage and support classes of up to 30 students, particularly focusing on those with behavioural or engagement challenges. This vital, non-teaching role requires a calm, authoritative presence to maintain a positive learning environment.
The Role: Class Management & Behaviour Support
This is a key pastoral and behavioural role designed for someone who can command respect and manage large groups effectively, ensuring student safety and focus are maintained.

Behaviour Intervention: Lead on immediate in-class and withdrawal behaviour support, using your expertise to de-escalate incidents and re-engage learners.
Pastoral Mentoring: Provide informal mentoring and guidance to students identified as vulnerable or at risk of exclusion, drawing on your background in youth work or similar fields.
Safety & Compliance: Ensure all students adhere to school safety and behaviour policies, acting as a consistent and firm role model.
Reporting: Liaise with the Head of Year, SENCO, and teaching staff to feedback on class dynamics, individual student behaviour, and potential safeguarding concerns.
Essential Requirements
Significant experience in Youth Work, Counselling, Prison Service, Alternative Provision, Pastoral Support, or a similar field that involves the effective management and mentorship of groups of young people (aged 11-16).
Proven ability to manage the behaviour of large groups (up to 30) successfully in challenging environments.
Exceptional resilience, a non-judgemental approach, and excellent communication skills to build rapport with complex teenagers.
A firm commitment to the entire contract duration: November 2025 - July 2026.
A relevant qualification (e.g., Youth Work Degree, NVQ Level 3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning, or equivalent professional certification).

Hours: 5 days a week, term-time only (core school hours).
