A bustling and creative 2-from entry school in Newham is looking for a strong, resilient teaching assistant to join their wonderful school.
The role:
The role will be to support a boy in year 1 with Autism. The student is non-verbal and can display challenging behaviour.
As a teaching assistant, you will:
- Providing 1:1 support to the student with Autism
- Help to implement the child's Educational Health Care Plan (EHCP)
- Facilitate speech and language development
- Work in collaboration with the class teacher and school SENCO to plan and implement activities and learning tasks
- Assist the student with social interactions and building social skills
About you:
- Will have experience supporting with Autism/special needs
- Solid understanding of pre-verbal communication methods
- Clear understanding of behaviour management techniques
- Ability to take a "firm but fair" approach
- Be kind, intuitive and be excited to make a positive impact on the life of a young child with Autism
