Tradewind Recruitment are delighted to be working with a welcoming and inclusive two-form entry primary school in Dagenham. We are seeking a committed SEN Teaching Assistant to work full-time for the academic year, supporting pupils with Special Educational Needs accross all year groups. This is a rewarding role for someone passionate about helping children with additional needs develop academically and socially.

The school is located close to Dagenham East station and has a school car park. It also has a strong community ethos, excellent facilities, and a supportive team dedicated to helping every child succeed.

Candidates with experience supporting children with Autism (ASD), ADHD, or Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs are encouraged to apply. Experience with PECS is desirable but not essential.

Job Summary

  • Role: SEN Teaching Assistant

  • Location: Dagenham, East London (accessible by car and public transport)

  • Start Date: ASAP

  • Contract: Full-time, term time only

  • Duration: Full academic year

  • Pay: From £90+ per day based on expereince (PAYE)

Key Responsibilities

  • Support pupils with Autism, ADHD, and SEMH needs in class and small groups

  • Assist with communication and social interaction, including non-verbal strategies

  • Work with class teachers and the SENCO to implement individual support plans

  • Encourage engagement, progress, and positive behaviour

  • Promote inclusion and wellbeing in a safe, nurturing setting

Person Specification

  • Experience as a Teaching Assistant or SEN Support Assistant in a primary school

  • Knowledge of ASD, ADHD, and SEMH needs

  • Patient, resilient, and empathetic approach

  • Excellent teamwork and communication skills

  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)

Compliance Requirements

  • Hold an Enhanced Child Workforce DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)

  • Provide a full CV with any gaps explained

  • Right to work in the UK

  • Two professional references covering the last two years

  • Proof of identity and address for safeguarding checks
