Chef / Food Technician - Secondary School (Food Technology Departments)
Location: Daventry
Start Date: October 2025
Salary: £23,592.44 - £25,152.73 (pro-rata, term-time only)

Are you a skilled chef with a passion for food and a desire to inspire young people? Do you want to use your culinary expertise in a vibrant school environment to help students learn about food preparation, nutrition, and safety?

We're partnering with Secondary schools across Daventry seeking a reliable and organised Chef to work as a Food Technician within their Food Technology departments from October 2025. This role is ideal for chefs who want a rewarding term-time position making a positive impact on students aged 11-18.

What You'll Do:

  • Prepare and organise ingredients, equipment, and resources for practical cooking lessons

  • Support teachers and students during food preparation and cooking activities

  • Maintain high standards of cleanliness, hygiene, and food safety in school kitchens

  • Assist with stock control, ordering supplies, and managing kitchen inventory

  • Set up and clear away before and after lessons to ensure smooth operations

  • Promote a safe, welcoming, and engaging environment for young learners

Who You Are:

  • Experienced chef or caterer with practical food preparation skills

  • Knowledgeable about food hygiene and health & safety (Level 2 Food Safety certificate desirable)

  • Well-organised, proactive, and able to manage multiple tasks efficiently

  • Comfortable working alongside young people in a busy classroom setting

  • A team player with a positive, professional approach

  • Willing to undertake training such as First Aid, COSHH, or Food Safety as required
