Job Title: SEND Teaching Assistant (KS2)
Location: Islington, London
Start Date: ASAP
Contract: Full-time, Long-term (Monday to Friday, 8:30am-4:00pm)
Pay: £90-£101 per day (PAYE)

Are you an experienced SEND Teaching Assistant looking to make a real impact in the classroom?
We are working with a welcoming primary school in Islington that is seeking a passionate and dedicated Teaching Assistant to join their Key Stage 2 (KS2) team, supporting pupils with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND).

This is a fantastic opportunity to work in a supportive environment where every child is valued, and staff are committed to helping pupils achieve their full potential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with SEND, ensuring their academic, social, and emotional needs are met.

  • Work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and targeted support strategies.

  • Assist in adapting learning materials and classroom activities to make lessons accessible for all pupils.

  • Encourage positive behaviour and promote independence and confidence in learning.

  • Support pupils with communication, emotional regulation, and sensory needs as required.

  • Help to create an inclusive, engaging, and nurturing classroom environment.

  • Monitor and record pupil progress, providing feedback to teachers and parents where appropriate.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience working as a Teaching Assistant, ideally within SEND or KS2 settings.

  • A good understanding of autism, ADHD, speech and language needs, or other learning difficulties.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a patient and empathetic approach.

  • A genuine passion for supporting children's learning and development.
