Careers Advisor - Further Education College (Northampton)

Tradewind Recruitment are delighted to be supporting a highly regarded Further Education College in Northampton in their search for a dedicated and knowledgeable Careers Advisor to join their permanent team.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an enthusiastic professional who is passionate about guiding and inspiring young people as they plan their next steps into higher education, training, or employment. You'll play a key role in helping students make informed, confident decisions about their futures, ensuring they are fully supported to achieve their goals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-to-one careers advice and guidance to students aged 16-19 and adult learners.

  • Deliver engaging workshops and group sessions on employability, career pathways, apprenticeships, and higher education options.

  • Support students in preparing CVs, job applications, and interview techniques.

  • Work collaboratively with curriculum teams, employers, and external agencies to promote opportunities and raise aspirations.

  • Maintain accurate and confidential records of student interactions, adhering to college policies and statutory guidance.

  • Contribute to the development of the college's careers strategy in line with the Gatsby Benchmarks and Careers Education Framework.

Requirements:

  • A recognised qualification in Careers Guidance (e.g., Level 6 Diploma in Career Guidance and Development or equivalent).

  • Proven experience providing careers advice within an FE, secondary, or post-16 setting.

  • Strong knowledge of labour market trends, apprenticeship routes, and higher education pathways.

  • Excellent communication, organisational, and interpersonal skills.

  • A genuine passion for helping young people reach their potential.
