Are you an experienced Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) with a passion for supporting young people with special educational needs? Tradewind Recruitment is seeking a confident and enthusiastic HLTA to work in a range of specialist SEN schools in and around Northampton.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone with strong classroom skills, leadership ability, and a nurturing approach who wants to make a lasting difference in pupils' lives. The schools cater for children and young people with Autism (ASC), Moderate to Severe Learning Difficulties (MLD/SLD), and Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.

The Role:

As an HLTA, you'll play a key role in supporting teaching and learning, often leading small group sessions or covering classes in the teacher's absence. You'll work collaboratively with teaching staff and support assistants to deliver high-quality, inclusive education.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting teachers with planning, preparation, and assessment of lessons.

  • Delivering pre-planned lessons and small-group interventions across the curriculum.

  • Providing 1:1 support for pupils with additional needs.

  • Using creative strategies to help children engage, progress, and achieve their goals.

  • Promoting a safe, positive, and inclusive learning environment.

Requirements:

  • Level 4 HLTA qualification (or equivalent experience).

  • Strong understanding of SEN strategies and differentiated learning.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to adapt and work independently when required.

  • A full UK driving licence and access to transport due to rural school locations.
