Learning Support Assistant (Autism Specialist) - Alternative Provision
Location: Wellingborough, Northamptonshire
Contract Type: Full-time, Long-term
Start Date: ASAP / January 2026
Pay: £90-£110 per day (depending on experience)

Tradewind Recruitment is seeking a dedicated Learning Support Assistant (LSA) specialising in Autism to join a dynamic Alternative Provision setting in Wellingborough. This is a fantastic opportunity to play a key role in helping students with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) develop their confidence, independence, and engagement in learning.
About the Role
As an Autism Specialist LSA, you will work with students aged 11-16 who have autism and may also experience social, emotional, or behavioural challenges. You'll provide one-to-one and small group support, helping to remove barriers to learning and promoting inclusion across the school environment.
Your responsibilities will include:
Supporting students with ASC to engage positively in classroom activities
Implementing individual education and behaviour plans
Encouraging communication, social interaction, and emotional regulation
Supporting sensory and environmental needs in line with individual profiles
Working collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, and external professionals
About You
We're looking for someone who is:
Passionate about supporting students with autism and additional needs
Patient, empathetic, and adaptable in different situations
Skilled in building positive and trusting relationships
Confident in managing behaviour and supporting emotional wellbeing
Experienced in an SEN, SEMH, or Alternative Provision environment (desirable but not essential)
Requirements
Right to work in the UK
Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to apply for one)
Experience supporting students with autism or similar needs is highly advantageous
