SEN Teaching Assistant
Location: Wellingborough, Northamptonshire
Contract Type: Full-time, Long-term
Start Date: ASAP / January 2026
Pay: £90-£110 per day (depending on experience)

Tradewind Recruitment is looking for a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to join a supportive specialist education setting in the Wellingborough area. This is a rewarding opportunity for someone who thrives on making a positive difference in the lives of young people.
About the Role
As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will support students with a range of additional needs including autism (ASC), social, emotional and mental health difficulties (SEMH), and learning disabilities. Working under the guidance of the class teacher and SENCO, you'll help create a safe, inclusive, and engaging learning environment where every pupil can succeed.
Your responsibilities will include:
Providing 1:1 and small group support to pupils with additional needs
Assisting with the implementation of individual education plans (IEPs) and behaviour strategies
Supporting communication, emotional regulation, and social development
Encouraging independence and engagement in learning
Helping to maintain a positive and nurturing classroom atmosphere
About You
We're looking for someone who is:
Empathetic, patient, and passionate about supporting young people
Experienced in working with children or young people with SEN (school, care, or youth settings welcome)
Confident in using positive behaviour management strategies
Adaptable, proactive, and able to work effectively as part of a team
Committed to promoting inclusion and equal opportunities for all learners
Requirements
Right to work in the UK
Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to apply for one)
Relevant experience with SEN students is highly desirable
