The Role: Transform Lives as an AP Teacher in Blackpool

This is a hugely rewarding role for a teacher who believes in the potential of every young person, especially those disengaged from mainstream education. You will work with small groups and individuals, designing a flexible, engaging curriculum that addresses Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs and barriers to learning.

What You Will Do:

  • Deliver Bespoke Lessons: Plan and deliver engaging, differentiated lessons across a range of subjects (e.g., English, Maths, Humanities, or a vocational/enrichment subject) up to KS4, focusing on core skills and life-ready outcomes.

  • Be a Mentor: Build strong, positive, and professional relationships with students who may have experienced trauma, loss, or rejection. Act as a consistent and supportive role model.

  • Manage Behaviour: Utilise excellent behaviour management and de-escalation skills, applying therapeutic and nurturing approaches to create a safe, consistent learning environment.

  • Track Progress: Assess student progress against individual targets and Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) to ensure meaningful outcomes.

  • Collaborate: Work closely with a dedicated team of support staff, mentors, and external agencies to ensure holistic student development.

Essential Skills & Attributes:

  • Passion & Resilience: A deep-seated commitment to supporting vulnerable young people and the resilience to work with challenging behaviours.

  • Flexibility: The ability to teach multiple subjects and adapt quickly to the diverse and often unpredictable needs of the students.

  • Strong Boundaries: Proven ability to establish clear, consistent, and respectful professional boundaries.

  • Life Experience: (For unqualified applicants) Significant experience in a relevant field such as Youth Work, Social Care, SEMH, or a similar challenging environment where behaviour management and relationship building were key.

Qualifications (We welcome both):

  • Qualified Teacher: QTS or QTLS (ECTs welcome) OR

  • Unqualified Instructor: Demonstrable experience and knowledge suitable for delivering a curriculum (e.g., a degree in a relevant subject or extensive industry experience).
