Are you an exceptional, ambitious teacher ready to step into Senior Leadership (SLT)? Join our dedicated Alternative Provision (AP) team in Blackpool as a Teacher with a designated lead role, offering direct support to the Head and a clear pathway to Deputy Headship. This is a unique opportunity for a Qualified (QTS) or experienced Unqualified Teacher committed to transforming the lives of vulnerable young people.

The Opportunity: Leadership Pathway in AP

This isn't just a teaching role; it's a leadership apprenticeship. You will maintain a teaching timetable but dedicate significant time to management and strategic development, preparing you fully for a future Deputy Head/Assistant Head role within 12-24 months.

Key Leadership Responsibilities:

  • Curriculum Development: Lead the review and enhancement of the AP curriculum, ensuring it meets the diverse needs of students with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) and behavioural challenges.

  • Staff Mentoring: Provide coaching, guidance, and support to teaching assistants and instructors, fostering high-quality teaching and learning across the provision.

  • Operational Support: Assist the Head Teacher with daily operations, safeguarding procedures, data analysis, and regulatory compliance.

  • Stakeholder Liaison: Act as a key contact for parents, carers, and external agencies (e.g., Local Authority, SEND teams).

Who We Are Looking For?

We are seeking a candidate with a proven track record of positive impact in a challenging educational setting (mainstream, PRU, or AP).

Essential Experience & Skills:

  • Impactful Teaching: Demonstrated ability to build strong, professional relationships and deliver highly engaging, differentiated lessons to students with complex needs.

  • Behaviour Expertise: Expert-level skills in therapeutic behaviour management and de-escalation strategies.

  • Aspiring Leader: Clear ambition and evidence of having taken on significant leadership responsibilities (e.g., Key Stage Lead, Subject Lead, or whole-school initiatives).

  • Communication: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills essential for working with students, staff, and external partners.

Qualifications:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) is highly desirable but we will consider highly experienced, outstanding Unqualified Teachers (Instructors/Leads) with extensive experience in AP, PRU, or SEMH settings who can demonstrate the necessary leadership aptitude.
