The Role: Essential Pastoral Support in Secondary Education
We seek a resilient and empathetic individual to join our bustling secondary school, providing direct, practical, and emotional support to students (aged 11-16) who face barriers to learning due to social, emotional, or mental health (SEMH) challenges.
What You Will Do:
Provide 1:1 and Group Support: Offer tailored interventions, mentorship, and support sessions to students struggling with anxiety, attendance, behaviour, or emotional regulation.
Safeguarding and Welfare: Work closely with the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) to monitor student welfare, identify concerns, and implement necessary support plans (including EHCPs and Pastoral Support Plans).
Liaise with Families & Agencies: Act as a key link between the school, parents/carers, and external support services (e.g., CAMHS, Social Services) to ensure a cohesive support network.
Promote Inclusion: Help reintegrate students who have faced exclusion or extended absence, championing a nurturing and inclusive school culture.
Crisis Management: Be the first point of contact for students experiencing emotional distress or crisis, applying de-escalation techniques effectively.

Essential Requirements:
Relevant Experience: Significant experience working with children and young people (aged 11+) in an educational, social care, youth work, or residential setting.
Knowledge of SEMH: A strong understanding of the impact of trauma, SEMH needs, and challenging behaviour on a child's learning and wellbeing.
Qualifications: A relevant qualification (e.g., Social Work, Youth Work, Counselling, or equivalent experience) is highly desirable.
Safeguarding Commitment: Unwavering commitment to the safeguarding and welfare of children.
