Science Instructor - Northampton

Pay Rate: £120-£180 per day (depending on experience and responsibilities)

Secondary schools across Northampton are seeking Science Instructors to join their teams from January 2026. These positions are ideal for Science graduates, experienced cover supervisors, tutors, or individuals with a background in STEM who are excited to support students' learning across Biology, Chemistry, and Physics.

What the Role Involves:

  • Delivering well-structured Science lessons across KS3 and KS4

  • Simplifying scientific concepts in ways that are engaging, clear, and relevant

  • Supporting planning and adapting resources to meet a range of learning needs

  • Maintaining a positive and productive classroom environment

  • Implementing effective behaviour management strategies

  • Monitoring pupil understanding and providing meaningful feedback

  • Taking part in departmental meetings, training, and continuing professional development

We're Looking For Someone Who:

  • Holds a degree in a Science-related subject (Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Biomedical Science, Engineering, etc.)

  • Has experience working with young people-through tutoring, classroom support, outreach, or training

  • Communicates confidently and can manage a classroom effectively

  • Enjoys inspiring curiosity and promoting scientific thinking

  • Is open to exploring future routes into teaching such as PGCE, SCITT, or QTS Apprenticeships

  • Has (or is willing to obtain) an Enhanced DBS check
