Special Needs Teaching Assistant - Full-Time & Part-Time

Are you passionate about supporting young people with special educational needs? Tradewind Recruitment is looking for enthusiastic and dedicated Special Needs Teaching Assistants to join a well-established secondary SEN school on the Wirral. The school relies on skilled full-time and part-time TAs every day, and there are immediate opportunities available across a range of classes.

About the Role
You'll be supporting students aged 11-18 with a variety of special educational needs, including autism, learning difficulties, communication needs and social/emotional needs. Roles are available full-time and part-time, and you will be placed in the class where your strengths and experience fit best.

Each day is different-you may be working 1:1 with a student, supporting small groups, or assisting the class teacher with whole-class activities. You'll be part of a supportive team who work closely together to create a positive, structured and engaging environment for every learner.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide 1:1 or small-group support to students with a range of SEN

  • Assist in delivering lessons and activities adapted to individual needs

  • Support communication, social skills and emotional regulation

  • Help maintain a calm, safe and inclusive classroom environment

  • Work collaboratively with teachers, support staff and therapists

  • Support personalised learning plans and behaviour strategies

Requirements:

  • Experience working with children or young people, ideally with SEN

  • A patient, calm and proactive approach

  • Confidence supporting students with a range of learning needs

  • Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships

  • A DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
