We're recruiting an Additional Needs Mentor to join a supportive SEN school on the Wirral this Jan. This is a brilliant role for someone who wants to make a real impact as a positive role model, guide and steady presence for pupils who need extra support throughout the school day.
The role:
Working closely with pupils with a range of additional needs, helping them feel settled, understood and ready to learn
Providing pastoral support, emotional guidance and daily encouragement to help pupils manage routines and build confidence
Supporting pupils in class, small groups and during transition times to keep them engaged and regulated
Modelling positive behaviour, promoting resilience and helping pupils develop social and communication skills
Building strong, trusting relationships with pupils, staff and families
Supporting teachers with personalised learning strategies and adapting activities where needed
What we're looking for:
Experience supporting children or young people in schools, care, SEN or youth settings
A calm, nurturing and patient approach
Someone who can act as a steady role model and guide for pupils who need consistency
Good communication skills and the ability to build rapport quickly
A genuine interest in helping children with additional needs thrive
